On October 1.st Tupilak (Nordic rainbow culture workers) awarded Anna Linder, founder of SAQMI and SAQMI with the ILGCN (international rainbow culture network) ”wings” price for

…. enormous contributions to LGBT film as artist, curator, producer, film maker and researcher. 

…. For also keeping a special eye on the often ignored Sami culture of the far north of the Nordic region.

…. For confirming that culture is a powerful weapon against homophobia, intolerance, ignorance, invisibility and silence. 

…. For proving the fact that when the colors of the rainbow are stretched over geographic and psychological barriers, they grow not weaker but more brilliant for any one willing to look up to the sky.

The name of the price ”wings” was inspired by the 1916 silent film ”Vingarne” or ”The wings” by Sweden’s gay director, Maurice Stiller. ‘It describes the failed love affair between a sculptor and his male model – posing as the ancient Greek youth, the beautiful Ganymedes – attracting the god Zeus – who comes to earth as an eagle (thus the wings) – plucking up the youth to the heavens. One of the world’s oldest homosexual love stories which is considered the worlds oldest gay film.’

The price was awarded during the 6th Nordic rainbow history and culture month and had a special focus on history.

…. För att hon också har hållit ett särskilt öga på den ofta ignorerade samiska kulturen i Nordens nordligaste region.

…. För att ha bekräftat att kultur är ett kraftfullt vapen mot homofobi, intolerans, okunskap, osynlighet och tystnad. 

…. För att ha bevisat det faktum att när regnbågens färger sträcks över geografiska och psykologiska barriärer blir de inte svagare utan mer lysande för den som är villig att titta upp mot himlen.

 Prisets namn ”Vingarne” är inspirerat av den 1916 års stumfilmen ”Vingarne” eller ”Vingarna” av Sveriges homosexuella regissör Maurice Stiller. Den beskriver den misslyckade kärleksaffären mellan en skulptör och hans manliga modell – som poserar som den antika grekiska ungdomen, den vackra Ganymedes – som lockar guden Zeus – som kommer till jorden som en örn (därav vingarna) – och plockar upp ungdomen till himlen. En av världens äldsta homosexuella kärlekshistorier som anses vara världens äldsta bögfilm”. 

Priset delades ut under den 6: e nordiska regnbågens historie- och kulturmånad och hade ett särskilt fokus på historia.
