Come along for a club crawl through half a century, from the gay clubs of the 60s to our queer clubs of today.

From restaurant Friska Luft to Fika 3000
Arne Nilsson and Lasse Långström guide us through an ever-changing club scene and an ever-changing city. See and listen to another Gothenburg together with a couple of the city’s most knowledgable on the matter. The tour starts off where Arne hung out as a young gay man in Gothenburgs city center before we follow Lasse along to a few of the queer clubs which exist today. The tour gives us a sense of how and for whom the clubs were arranged for and where they have had their roots through time. With personal tales and memories both Arne and Lasse give us an insight into the world of often hidden spaces for LGBTQI people.
What type of queer clubs got and took space in the welfare state’s city? Clubs from and for whom? What does it look like now in today’s Gothenburg with its growing gaps, segregation and gentrification? How is queer culture made in a city where events rule supreme and spaces to meet become all the more impossible to make? Join us for a wandering discussion on the queer clubs in Gothenburg where we’ll get to visit historical locations and spaces including Floras Kulle, Club Pedro, Touch and Underjorden.
Arne Nilsson is a lecturer in sociology and has researched and written several books, including with Margareta Lindholm, on feminine and masculine gay lives in Gothenburg and about the America Boats during the middle of the 20th century.
Lasse Långström is a film director and occasional club organiser based in Gothenburg.
SAQMI – The Swedish Archive for Queer Moving Images is creating activities in collaboration with Vetenskapsfestivalen and Collaboratory – Game Inovation Lab for Diversity and Inclusion.

Arne Nilsson och Lasse Långström guidar oss genom ett föränderligt klubbliv och en föränderlig stad. Se och lyssna till ett annat Göteborg tillsammans med ett par av stadens mest kunniga på området. Stadsvandringen tar sin början där Arne hängde som ung och gay i Göteborgs innerstad och sedan följer vi med Lasse som tar oss med till några av de queerklubbar som finns idag. Vandringen ger oss en bild av hur och för vem klubbarna arrangerats och var de har haft sina fästen över tid. Med personliga berättelser och minnen ger Arne och Lasse oss en bild av för omvärlden inte sällan dolda mötesplatser för HBTQI personer.
Vilka slags queera klubbar fick och tog plats i folkhemmets stad? Klubbar av och för vilka? Hur ser det ut i dagens Göteborg med dess växande klyftor, segregering och gentrifiering? Hur skapas queer kultur i en eventifierad stad där mötesplatserna alltmer omöjliggörs? Följ med oss i ett vandrande samtal om de queera klubbarna i Göteborg. Vi får besöka historiska ställen och platser som Floras Kulle, Club Pedro, Touch och Underjorden.
Arne Nilsson är docent i sociologi och har forskat och skrivit flera böcker, bland annat tillsammans med Margareta Lindholm, om kvinnligt och manligt homoliv i Göteborg och på amerikabåtarna under decennierna kring mitten av 1900-talet.
Lasse Långström är filmregissör och ibland klubbarrangör med bas i Göteborg.
