The Night Train by Jerry Carlsson (2020, 15 min)

Bad Lesbian by Simone Norberg (2021, 14 min)
In the middle of a break-up, we get to follow seventeen-year-old Alexandra during a crucial last day in the relationship with her girlfriend Sally. However, the unexpected meeting with Dimitri has put things out of play and the focus is shifted instead to the new guy.

Chavo by Alecio Araci (2023, 15 min)
“Chavo” is the opening film in a trilogy of short films in a Roma setting that deals with topics such as identity, sexuality, origin and the burden that can occur when these parameters do not match.

Whaled Women by Jeuno JE Kim & Ewa Einhorn (2013, 9min)
Krabstadt is a fictional frontier town in the Arctic where all the Nordic countries have sent their “Unwanteds”. It’s populated by the long-term unemployed, asylum seekers, immigrants, and those with too many overdue bills. Krabstadt is a warped mirror of scandinavian political systems, social customs, and lifestyles. In a cold and dark world where humans and anthropomorphic animals live side by side, the two comic heroes Schlop-Schlop and KK work at the Office Of Development where they have to contend with absurd bureaucratic realities, awkward residents, and fragile environments. Krabstadt is a series of short animated films that satirizes bureaucratization of modern life, post- socialdemocratic contradictions, current political events and small town pettiness. One day a group of Whaled Women are stranded on Krabstadt’s shores and it’s up to KK and SS to deal with the situation.

Twosome by Mette Hansen (2006, 4 min)
Two people meet and develop a relationship that gradually becomes problematic. The dividing line between being one person and being two becomes blurred. The video is mainly about being able to communicate. But dependence, trust and integrity also play an important part in the story. Finally, it can be very lonely to be a twosome.

About Hanoi Pride

‘Over the years, the LGBTQI community in Vietnam has been active in promoting and advancing their own rights through community building, policy advocacy, and public education. Positive public attitudes towards LGBTQI individuals have been gradually evolving, with increased visibility in media and society.

The long-term goal of Hanoi Pride is to contribute to the inclusive, cultural, and harmonious city of Hanoi.

For this year theme, we go with “Giới này là của chúng mình”, which can be loosely translated as “Genders: Within and Beyond Us”. We believe that current discourses on gender and gender roles fuel the prejudices and discrimination against gender and sexual diversity. By redefining what gender means, and how Vietnamese society can thrive from building up from the traditional beliefs, we hope to establish a constructive dialogue, as well as shed light on current queer issues, especially the current trans law in Vietnam.’
